How systems thinking can serve people in

PreK-12 Education

Systems thinking pedagogy gives educators real time insight into their students' learning. Students report that when they apply the tools of systems thinking to make their thinking more visible, they can do more thinking. Simultaneously, teachers are able to see student thinking in real time, connecting misconceptions and asking criitcal questions to help students go deeper in their understanding of content.

Systems Thinking in Action

Waters Center was privileged to participate in the Arizona STEM Acceleration Project over a two-year period, supporting 150 teachers to bring enhanced learning and student efficacy to their classrooms by embedding systems thinking into high quality 3D science instruction. The project used a cohort model that engaged teachers from around the state in professional learning, coaching, kinesthetic experiences and lesson design with systems thinking at the core. Teachers enthusiastically took these best practices back to their schools and classroom to help engage students and increase student outcomes.
