Putting the Community Back in Your Professional Learning Communities

Service Description

Initiate or reinvigorate your system’s Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) or School Improvement Teams by engaging with Systems Thinking. We believe an often overlooked stage of PLC implementation is the necessary work to develop high-functioning teams with a strong sense of belonging and alignment with a mission of student learning. We leverage Systems Thinking Habits and tools to help districts enrich their educators’ PLC experience that results in high engagement, focused collaboration, and improved outcomes. This workshop and available follow-up support helps you to develop structures, processes and committed mindsets that enrich the precious time teachers and administrators dedicate to PLC meetings

Outcomes: Participants will be able to:

  1. Apply Systems Thinking Habits and tools to develop a shared vision for PLC practices in the system.
  2. Apply Systems Thinking Habits and tools to enhance PLC structures and processes.
  3. Apply Systems Thinking Habits and tools to increase PLC members’ sense of belonging and perception of alignment with the goals of the PLC.
  4. Apply Systems Thinking Habits and tools to determine effective methods to evaluate the impact of PLC practices and to adapt the implementation of PLCs in the system.

Structure:

  • Max. 28 participants/facilitator.
  • In-Person: 2-Day Workshop (or equivalent)
    • Recommended that teams include leaders and teachers.
    • Recommended to engage with follow-up coaching and systems thinking capacity-building.
  • Virtual: 5 sessions of 2-hours each, and 1 hour of individual coaching per participant
